An illuminated sign constructed from fluorescent lights in the form of bent glass tubes; the different colors being obtained by adding different noble gases to the neon. Neon was discovered by William Ramsay and Morris Travers in 1898. Neon is the chemical element in the periodic table that has the symbol Ne and atomic number 10. The name is derived from the Greek 'neon', meaning new. It is a colorless, odorless gas that comprises 18 parts per million of air. Neon will not react with any other substance. It is produced from liquid air for ornamental lighting because it glows red when an electrical discharge is passed through it.
Neon signs are excellent at employing a variety of these stimuli, which is why they are so effective in catching the eyes of passers-by.Neon-signs are one of the best tools you can use to attract customers to your business. For example: a small restaurant that is between lunch and dinner surges, with no customers in sight. If someone wants to come in and have a snack, they may be unsure if the small location is accepting customers unless neon signs are posted, letting them know that the facility is open. Retail stores, restaurants and other small businesses can benefit greatly from having neon open signs.
