By using different gasses you can get different colors. Neon sign gas gives Bright Red-Orange; argon gas mixed with mercury provides pale blue color. Only argon gas creates faint purple. If the inside part of the glass tube is coated with phosphors, different colors can be created. Phosphor coated tubes are available in different colors like purple, green, white etc.
