Neon lights were made in 1911 by Georges Claude. It became a popular business sign in early 1920s throughout France and United States.
- Neon is named from the Greek word "neos", which translates to "the new gas".
- Neon gas produces red light. Nearly 150 colors can be created with the help of other gases. Some commonly used gases are argon, phosphor, xenon, helium and mercury.
- It was Georges Claude who sold two signs to the Packard car company in 1923.
